The St. Joseph County Conservation District agreed during its monthly meeting Wednesday to revise a leg of its river cleanup schedule.
Agency director Carolyn Grace said the next cleanup will be Aug. 6, as scheduled. However, instead of completing a stretch of the Rocky River, the focus will center on a two and one-half-mile portion of the St. Joseph River in Nottawa Township between River Run Road and Angevine Road.
The stretch of St. Joseph River was to be cleaned July 9, but was delayed due to a drawdown of the river in effect at the time for repairs to the Sturgis Dam.
Grace said anyone interested in volunteering with the cleanup should contact her at 467-6336, Ext. 5, so an appropriate number of canoes and kayaks can be reserved, and an accurate lunch count can be recorded.
More information about the remaining river cleanups can be found on the agency’s website at: stjoecountycd.com.
