Fire – Significant damage to Sturgis home

Members of the Sturgis Fire Department were dispatched last week to a house fire in the 200 block of North Fourth Street.
The blaze was reported at 3:19 p.m. Friday.
Firefighters arrived on the scene to discover smoke coming from a two-story residence.
Neighbors reported no one was in the home.
Fire crews deployed two hose lines and entered the home from the east and north side entrances. Once inside, fire crews were met with high heat and smoke visible from the ceiling to the floor.
Fire was found on the first floor and was quickly knocked down. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the first floor, but there was significant heat, smoke and water damage to the structure and contents of the home.
