Roger L. Schmidtendorff, 86, of Mottville Township, White Pigeon, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at his home, following a short illness.
He was born July 7, 1930, in Fabius Township, a son of Lawrence and Edith (Kennedy) Schmidtendorff.
He was a Mottville resident since 1954, coming from Jones. Roger was a machinist, employed 15 years by Burr Oak Tool and Gauge and for 20 years, he owned and operated Rogers Machine in Bristol, Ind. He retired in 1999.
He was a member of the Mottville school board, serving as treasurer, and was a Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts leader. He enjoyed camping and fishing on Lake Michigan.
On June 16, 1951, he married Iris M. Foust in Winnemac, Ind. She survives, along with two daughters, Vicki (Randy) Anderson of Cassopolis, Venus (Ray) Lambdin of Union; three sons, Garry (Debbie) Schmidtendorff of Coldwater , Jeffrey Schmidtendorff of Las Vegas and Randy (Michelle) Schmidtendorff of White Pigeon; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Beverly Alleman and Norma Albano, both of Florida; a brother, Raymond (Nancy) Schmidtendorff of Constantine. Several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie, and three brothers, Harold, Howard and Larry; and by his parents.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mottville Township Cemetery.
