A Sturgis man suffered injuries after the vehicle in which he was a passenger was struck in the rear last weekend in Burr Oak Township.
Sheriff’s deputies said a truck driven by 55-year-old Kenelm Digby, of Otsego, was northbound on M-66 at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, when it hit a trailered boat hitched to an SUV waiting to turn westbound onto Findley Road.
Occupants in the car that was struck were driver Joshua Rose, 35, of Sturgis and Jimmy Whitt, 56. Whitt was airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital. Rose suffered minor injuries and Digby was uninjured. The boat was declared a total loss.
Digby was cited for failure to yield. Investigators said it appears alcohol and speed were not factors in the incident.
