Gwynn Jane Schrader, age 92, of Centreville, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016. She was born in Gary, IN on June 29, 1924, a daughter of Charles and Pearl (Hillel) Walsh. Gwynn graduated from Griffith High School in 1942. On November 17, 1945 she married Dale R. Schrader in Highland, IN. He preceded her in death June 1, 2011. Gwynn served her country in the US Navy WAVES during WWII. Following her service, she worked for the Selective Service System from 1952-1968 in Centreville and Three Rivers. Gwynn spent most of her life as a “Domestic Engineer”, taking loving care of her family and home. She was a member of the Hice-Shutes American Legion Post 170, Three Rivers, and she enjoyed bridge club, travel, crochet, baking, bowling and square dance.
Surviving are children Keli (Steve) Quake, Centreville, Sheli (Joe) Hittler, Sturgis; Marc (Sherry) Schrader, Chad (Kim Crose) Schrader, all Three Rivers; sister Louise Walsh, CA; 8 grandchildren; and several great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Dale R. Schrader Jr., and sister Charlene Kornburg.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday, 12-2 pm at Eley Funeral Home, Centreville where Memorial services will be held at 2 pm. Pastor David Peterson, Centreville Baptist Church will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Prairie River Cemetery.
