Jim Tullos, 84

James Walter Tullos, age 84, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday morning, Aug. 27, 2016, at Life Care Center of Las Vegas in Las Vegas.
He was born April 6, 1932, in Mississippi, a son of the late Leslie and Johnnie (Caulwell) Tullos.
Jim resided in Sturgis since 1953, coming from Mississippi. On Sept. 20, 1955, he married Jean Dingman in White Pigeon.
He retired in 1994 from White Pigeon Paper Company following more than 30 years of dedicated employment.
Jim was proud and honored to have served his country in the U.S. Air Force, earning the rank of airman second class. He was a Life Member of Capt. John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and was a longtime member of Gateway Twirlers Square Dance Club. Jim enjoyed bowling and for many years was a league bowler at White Pigeon Bowl. He also enjoyed playing golf and traveling with Jean throughout the United States.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of nearly 61 years, Jean; three daughters, Carol Coburn of Sturgis, Terri Hoyt of North Las Vegas, Nev., and Lisa (Terry) Adams of Sturgis; three sons, Walter Tullos of Sturgis, Donald (Tracey) Tullos of Las Vegas, N.M., and Larry (Ann) Tullos of Newkirk, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Alice) Tullos of LaGrange, Ind.; a sister, Martha Keasey of Tucson, Ariz., and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Rickie Hoyt; a granddaughter; two sisters; and seven brothers.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis.
Funeral services celebrating the life of James W. Tullos will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Randy Evans of New Beginnings Church will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at White Pigeon Township Cemetery in White Pigeon, where full military honors will be conferred by Capt. John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW.
