A Wisconsin veteran and his wife will benefit in part from a fundraiser taking place Saturday in Park Township.
Peggy and Lee Fassett will stage their seventh annual “Homes for our Troops,” a benevolent program that provides handicap-accessible homes for U.S. veterans injured in combat.
All proceeds raised from donations offered at Saturday’s pig roast will aid Russell Dennison, who was injured in October 2012 by an improvised-explosive device in Afghanistan. Dennison lost both legs and suffered other injuries as a result.
Peggy Fassett said there were no requests in 2016 for aid in Michigan, so Dennison was the next closest.
There is no cost to attend or eat, just a donation in any amount is all that’s requested.
The event starts at 5 p.m. and concludes at 11 p.m. It takes place at the Fassett house, 54010 Parkville Road.
