Michigan woman facing fines for hanging flag on front door

A Michigan woman is facing fines of $25 per day as long as she continues to keep a small American flag hanging from her front door.

WNEM-TV reports that Doris Fladzinkski received a notice of the fines from management at Kearsley Creek Townhouses in Davison, northwest of Detroit.

Managers of the complex tell the television station that restrictions are in the lease. They say allowing the flag on one door opens the figurative door to potentially offensive displays.

Fladzinkski — so far — is refusing to budge. She says she pays to live in the complex and that the door is part of her “property” until she steps “on the sidewalk.”  (AP)
