The St. Joseph County Conservation District is seeking volunteers to assist with its fourth river cleanup event of the season this coming weekend.
Saturday’s task will focus on the Portage River, from the Portage Lake Landing on Michigan Avenue in Mendon Township to Parkville Road.
The event starts at 9:30 a.m. and transportation from the end point back to the starting
location will be given. In addition, lunch will be provided.
Prospective participants are asked to reserve a spot so organizers can secure an
appropriate number of kayaks and canoes, as well as have an accurate count for lunch.
The conservation district can be reached by phoning 467-6336, ext. 5.
