Chamber cancels Treasures event

The Three Rivers Area Chamber of Commerce regrets to announce it is canceling the fourth “Treasures of St. Joseph County.”
Chamber President and CEO Christy Trammell said interest in the 2016 event – a takeoff on the concept of “The Amazing Race” – was not strong enough to justify the effort and cost of staging the event.
It was originally scheduled to take place in July but bumped to this coming weekend in hopes additional time might result in more ticket sales.
This year’s “Treasures” was to highlight four parks within the county, including the newest addition to the county’s park system: Covered Bridge Farm, located on the north bank of the St. Joseph River just east of the Langley Covered Bridge.
Trammell said refunds for tickets already purchased will be issued through the chamber.
The fate of a “Treasures” event in 2017 will be discussed in coming months by the chamber board.
