Imogene Slack, 89, of White Pigeon, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at Terry’s home in Constantine, following an extended illness.
She was born June 25, 1927, in Champaign, Ill., a daughter of Arthur and Ida (Fairfield) Sample. She resided in the White Pigeon area most of her life. She was a homemaker and owner of the White Pigeon Bowling Alley. She enjoyed bowling until the age of 84 and was a member of White Pigeon Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame. She was a member of the Alba Columba Club. She enjoyed golfing, cards, puzzles, watching plays and, most of all, attending her children’s and her grandchildren’s events.
On Sept. 8, 1946, she married Robert W. Slack at White Pigeon United Methodist Church. He died Sept. 10, 1976.
She is survived by a daughter, Christine (Ray) Comeau of Wisconsin Dells, Wis.; three sons, Robert (Donita) Slack, Dan (Derb) Slack and David (Sandra Grifey) Slack, all of White Pigeon; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, William Slack; a brother, Bill Sample; and a sister, Elaine Walker.
Visitation will take place 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in White Pigeon Township Cemetery. Donations may be directed to St. Jude’s Hospital or The American Cancer Society .
