Two major road projects in St. Joseph County will begin next week.
Motorists in the Lockport Township area will notice the first task Monday, when crews from Niblock Excavating start the chore of replacing two-thirds of a mile of Lovers Lane from Enterprise Drive east to Buckhorn Road.
Chris Minger, manager of the St. Joseph County Road Commission, said the project will cost $228,000 and the exact procedure due to the route is called “crush and shape.”
He said a detour will route traffic to Hoffman Street.
A larger project begins Thursday, as a mile-and-a-half stretch of Silver Street will undergo the same procedure from M-60 south to Wakeman Road in Mendon Township.
Minger said the $400,000 job will be conducted by Rieth-Riley Construction.
A detour to Angevine Road to Schweitzer Road will be in effect.
Both projects are slated to take about two weeks, Minger said.
