St. Joseph County Animal Control Officer Josh Shook announced he is resigning to take advantage of an employment opportunity elsewhere.
During Wednesday’s meeting of the Animal Control Advisory Board, Shook said he was presented an opportunity that would put his family in a stronger place financially.
Shook said it wasn’t a decision he made easily.
Shook, who joined the department after serving in a similar capacity for the city of Three Rivers, said his last day will be Oct. 28.
In a separate matter Wednesday, board members presented Sturgis-area veterinarian Suzanne Lee a wreath arrangement as a show of gratitude. Lee has agreed to donate to the county’s animal control agency more than $3,000 raised through her clinic’s third annual Paws For A Cause walk-a-thon last month.
