Nicole Airgood, principal at Eastwood Elementary School in Sturgis, is among 58 elementary and middle school principals named as 2016 National Distinguished Principals by the National Association of Elementary School Principals.
The recipients were honored last week at a banquet at Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C.
The program recognizes public- and private-school principals who make superior contributions to their schools and communities. During last week’s gathering, award-winning principals had the opportunity to share best practices.
The 58 honorees were selected by NAESP state affiliates and by committees representing private and overseas schools.
The award coincides with National Principals Month, which was established to honor contributions of school principals and assistant principals toward the success of the nation’s students and encourage awareness of their significance.
