The personal federal tax return for Gov. Rick Snyder and his wife, Sue, shows they had just over $400,000 in income in 2015 and made charitable contributions of about $95,000.
The Detroit Free Press reports the Republican governor itemized about $370,000 in deductions, leaving a taxable income of just under $25,000.
The former venture capitalist and computer company executive paid an alternative minimum tax of $26,338, plus $4,851 in taxes on net investment income. The alternative minimum tax is to make sure individuals with large deductions still pay federal income tax.
Snyder’s income and charitable giving numbers for 2015 are close to those reported in 2014, when the Snyders had income of just under $423,000 and gave about $104,000 to charity. (AP)
