Two arrested after suspicious credit card activity

Two Detroit residents were arrested last week after allegedly trying to use unauthorized credit cards to purchase cigarettes in Three Rivers.
According to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department, authorities were called Wednesday to the Shell gas station on North Main Street in response to a report of suspicious activity involving a credit card.
Upon arrival, officers questioned what turned out to be a group of four suspects. Officers were informed two of the suspects had previously attempted to purchase cartons of cigarettes at the Three Rivers Shell stations on U.S. 131 and South Main Street.
Officers learned that the credit cards used to try purchasing the cigarettes were declined.
Two of the four suspects were arrested. A search of the vehicle yielded 14 credit/debit cards suspected of being stolen.
