Lyman Groth, 81

Lyman M. Groth, age 81, of Mendon, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 at Fairview Nursing and Rehabilitation Community where he had resided the past five years. He was born in Leonidas, on Dec. 5, 1934 the son of the late Ernest and Laura Irene (Stuck) Groth, and was a lifetime resident of the area. He graduated from Colon High School where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He later served with the U.S. Army in Korea. Lyman engaged in general farming, and at the same time was employed in the Battle Creek office of the United States Postal Service for over 30 years.

Lyman is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Don) Tisdel of Sturgis; a son, Jeffrey Groth of Colon; three grandchildren, Shelby (Nick Velie) Tisdel, Mikenzie Tisdel, and Donald “DJ” Tisdel.

Graveside services will be 12:00 noon on Wednesday Nov. 30, 2016 in Leonidas Cemetery with Rev. David Farrell officiating. Memorials may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
