Timothy C. Kennard, age 62, of Chesterfield, and a former resident of Sturgis, passed away early Saturday morning, Nov. 5, 2016, at McLaren Macomb Hospital, surrounded by his family.
He was born May 25, 1954, in Elmhurst, Ill., a son of Donald L. and Phyllis J. Kennard.
Tim resided in Chesterfield since 2003, going there from Sturgis, and his early life was lived in Glen Ellyn, Ill., where he was a graduate of Glenbard West High School with the class of 1972.
On Sept. 30, 1972, he married the love of his life, Julie Williams, in Glen Ellyn.
From 1973-2002, Tim was employed by Sutton Tool Company in Sturgis. In 2002, he accepted a position with Carbide Surface Company in Clinton Township, where he was employed as a manufacturing engineer.
Tim was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting, camping and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and an avid dog lover. He loved time spent in Northern Michigan and recently his favorite place was Kingston. Tim had hobbies, involvements and activities he enjoyed, but what he truly cherished was time spent with his family, especially his six grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 44 years, Julie; a daughter, Jennifer (Chad) VanWagner of Sturgis; a son, Timothy (Angie) Kennard of Pinckney; his six grandchildren he so dearly loved, Michael (Lindsay) VanWagner, Benjamin (fiancée Alexis McClimans) VanWagner, Ellis VanWagner, Carter Kennard, Taylor Kennard and Cody Kennard; his mother, Phyllis Kennard of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; a sister, Kerri (Donald) Andersen of Glen Ellyn; his mother-in-law, Barbara Williams of Sturgis; a brother-in-law, Chuck (Linda) Williams of North Vernon, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Lisa Ashley of Millbrook, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald L. Kennard; and a brother, G. Thomas Kennard.
In accordance with Tim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis. A memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Timothy C. Kennard will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Russell Peterson of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis will officiate.
