Investigators from Michigan State Police were called last week to an incident initially reported to the St. Joseph County Child Protective Services.
Troopers said the incident unfolded around 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Spartan Motel in Three Rivers, where a report was taken regarding meth activity in a room also occupied by two children.
A CPS worker and state police officials made contact with the 29-year-old female suspect from Three Rivers. A second suspect, a 34-year-old Three Rivers man, was located in the room as well.
Once inside, troopers discovered what they believe were drugs and drug paraphernalia.
A 9-year-old female and 10-year-old male were placed into the custody of a family member.
The woman was charged with possession of marijuana, while the man was charged with possession of methamphetamine.
