Frank L. Kime, age 84, of Colon, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at his home, after several months of failing health.
Frank was born May 24, 1932, in Sturgis, a son of the late Lester and Hattie (Fisher) Kime.
Frank grew up in Sturgis, graduating from Sturgis High School in 1950, and later that year he moved to Colon. He was a member of Colon Baptist Church.
Frank had served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956, earning the rank of chief petty officer.
On June 22, 1957, he married Anna B. Jacobs in Sturgis.
Frank had worked 49½ years as an electrician for the former Kirsch Company in Sturgis, retiring in 1999.
He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and fishing, and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by his wife, Anna B. Kime of Colon; two sons, John Kime of Wilmette, Ill. and James Kime of Pearl City, Hawaii; a daughter, Vicki Kime of Hillsdale; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard (Duke) Kime.
The family will receive relatives and friends 2-6 p.m. Friday at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Frank L. Kime will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at Colon Baptist Church, with the Revs. Scott Kroeger and David Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon, with military honors conferred by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and Colon American Legion Post #454.
If desired, the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Frank to either Colon Baptist Church or Colon Food Pantry. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and at the church.
