Gerri Finch-Smith, 66

Geralyn A. (Gerri) Finch-Smith, 66, of Kalamazoo, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at The Laurels of Galesburg, following a brief illness.
She was born May 31, 1950, in Detroit, a daughter of Paul B. and Mary E. (Walsh) Mecklenborg.
She was a resident of Kalamazoo the past seven years, coming from South Haven, and lived many years in White Pigeon. She was an LPN who worked with the mentally ill most of her life. She was last employed as a supervisor with Beacon Specialized Living in Bangor.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kalamazoo. She enjoyed her job, traveling with her husband, watching movies and, most of all, her grandchildren.
She was first married to Ernest A. Finch on Nov. 27, 1970, in Grand Rapids. He died April 21, 1994. She then married Mark L. Smith in June 1997. He survives with her daughter, Sara A. (Chuck) Pope of Bridgman; a son, Zachary P. (Kara) Finch of Littleton, Colo.; seven grandchildren; a sister, Mary Anne (Steve) Baker of Grand Rapids; three brothers, Paul (Dawn) Mecklenborg of Highland, Ted (Suzanne) Mecklenborg of San Diego and Bob (Bev) Mecklenborg of Biloxi, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents.
Visitation will take place 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Farrand Funeral home in White Pigeon. Rosary is at 6 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Pigeon. Cremation will follow the service.
Donations may be directed to Beacon Specialized Living in Bangor. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
