Joel Thomas Brickman, age 27, formerly of Mendon, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016 in Dundee, Michigan. He was born in Detroit on May 26, 1989 the son of Paul R. and Lori Ann (Biltz) Brickman. The family moved to Mendon when Joel was a first-grader, and he graduated from Mendon High School in 2007 . He attended Glen Oaks Community College, and received his Bachelors in Business Finance from Oakland University in 2013. Joel then worked in the Accounting Department for MSC International in Southfield. For the past 21 months he worked in the Travel and Expense Audit Department at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Joel played football, track, and basketball at Mendon High School. He was an avid Detroit professional sports fan, especially the Red Wings, and was a U of M Sports fan. He enjoyed Fantasy Football and his X-Box games.
Joel is survived by his parents, Paul and Lori Brickman of Mendon; twelve aunts and uncles, Dave (Lynn) Brickman, Nancy (Dick) Fenney, Maryann Williams, Mark (Marilyn) Brickman, Marcia (Joe) Pffaf, Robert (Carol) Brickman, Charlie Biltz, Tom Biltz, Dione Michie, Cheryl Reese, Bernadette Biltz, and Gregg (Kim) Biltz; and by many cousins. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Raymond and Marilyn Brickman; maternal grandparents Charlie and Bernadine Biltz; and an uncle, Stephen Biltz.
The family will receive friends from 10 am until 2 pm Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016 at the Crossroads Missionary Church, 22605 M-60, Mendon, MI 49072. Services will begin at 2 pm Saturday at the church with Pastor Bryan Balasa officiating. Cremation will follow services and a private interment will take place later.
