Joyce Richardson, 67

Joyce C. Richardson, age 67, of White Pigeon, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at her home following a long illness.
She was born in Benton Harbor on April 11, 1949, the daughter of Theodore and Virginia (Barker) Owca.
She graduated from St. Joseph High School with the class of 1967.
She was married to Adrian Richardson on Sept. 30, 1967, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph. They moved to Kokomo, Ind., in 1981 where she worked at St. Joseph Hospital, and where she was recognized as Housekeeper of the Year. They moved to White Pigeon in 2003. While living here she worked as a cashier at Walmart in Sturgis. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. Joyce enjoyed knitting and making items for local charitable events. She also enjoyed fishing with her husband, and her Pug dogs.
Peony, as she was sometimes known, is survived by her husband, Adrian; three children, James Richardson of Kokomo, Ind., Christa (Kent) Weaver of Beaver Creek, Ohio, and Martha Richardson of Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Courtney Richardson, Danielle Bolinger, and Benjamin Weaver; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Alaina Richardson; sister, Julie Stehle of Stevensville; brother, Joseph Owca of Eau Claire; and several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Michael; and a sister, Mary Angela.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday Dec. 30, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Pigeon with Rev. Evelio Ramirez officiating, followed by a gathering in the church hall. Cremation will be conducted and a private interment will take place later in Coloma Mich.
