Scott Lee “Chacca” Middlehurst, age 53, of Mendon died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. He was born in Three Rivers on May 9, 1963 the son of Terrence and Lorene (Boone) Middlehurst and was a lifetime resident of St. Joseph County. Scott worked briefly at Mid-American Electric in Middlebury, and later as a rural carrier for the Mendon Post Office. For many years he was a rural deliveryman of the Three Rivers Commercial News and the Penny Saver. He had an appreciation of music and played the guitar. He enjoyed playing video games and fishing.
Scott is survived by two children, Justin Middlehurst of Natron Heights, PA, and Hannah Middlehurst of Mendon; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and by three brothers, Randy, Steve, and Jeff Middlehurst.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016 at the West Mendon United Methodist Church, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to services. Interment of cremains will take place in Moorepark Cemetery. Memorial donations will be directed to the family. Arrangements were by the Eickhoff Farrand Halverson Chapel of Three Rivers.
