Colon village council agrees to new phones

Colon village council members last week discussed the unreliable state of village hall’s telephone system, while village president Diane Downs said the office also needs a computer dedicated to village-related business.
A general, unassigned office that Down uses in the village office does not have a landline telephone nor does it have a computer. Downs said with a search underway for a village manager, the office will eventually need both amenities.
She said the phone used by village staff – primarily office manager Tammy Fredenburg – is outdated and has an unreliable connection.
The council agreed to purchase a total of four phones at a cost not to exceed $350. The expenditure will come out of the village’s general fund.
Regarding computers, Downs suggested one laptop each would be sufficient for her and the village manager.
Fredenburg was directed to research two new laptops. She will report back to the council, presumably in February.
