St. Joseph County’s annual “Point-in-Time” count will take place 6-8 p.m. today.
The St Joseph County Housing Task Force will conduct a count of homeless and unsheltered individuals on the streets and in shelters.
Volunteers will seek people who are homeless, living in cars, or dwelling at retail establishments, laundromats, grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, and other areas commonly known for congregation.
“Be Counted” hot/cold bags will be given to the homeless, including an emergency thermal blanket, lightweight snacks, and personal hygiene items.
Kelli Tackett, executive director at Keystone Place, is requesting that service providers, food pantries, shelters, community kitchens, schools, hospitals, churches, local government and police agencies with knowledge of homelessness to call 467-7078, to help volunteers.
