A Kalamazoo County man was arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and several other offenses following a traffic stop in Park Township over the weekend.
Sheriff’s deputies said a pursuit started around 2 a.m. Sunday on U.S. 131 near Flowerfield Road. Central Dispatch received a call from a motorist about a SUV traveling southbound on U.S. 131 at a high rate of speed and in an erratic manner.
The vehicle eventually came to a stop near M-216.
During the investigation, deputies learned the vehicle had been stolen out of Kalamazoo County.
The 36-year-old driver admitted to stealing the vehicle and being intoxicated, according to authorities. He was charged with fleeing and eluding, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, operating while intoxicated – third offense – and driving with a suspended license – second offense. He was also wanted on several outstanding warrants.
