A proposed plan to address some costly projects at three county parks was endorsed by a Park Township resident at Tuesday’s St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners meeting.
Holly Stephenson stated during citizen comments that the county’s recent discussion about potential improvements at Covered Bridge Farm and Plumb Lake parks, and Cade Lake Park and Campground would be worth the effort and cost.
Her comments were in response to the county’s executive committee last week discussing the idea of financing the nearly $1.4 million in projects through the sale of bonds.
The proposed projects include nearly $570,000 worth of work at Covered Bridge Farm in Lockport Township, almost $400,000 at Plumb Lake in Burr Oak Township and about $410,000 at Cade Lake in Fawn River Township.
Commissioners over the past week received two letters of support for the funding plan: one from former commissioner Robin Baker, the other from Three Rivers Area Chamber of Commerce President Christy Trammell.
