The designation of a stretch of East Main Street in Centreville has been changed to all-season, a move that will benefit the village’s business park and adjacent commercial operations.
The announcement was made by Michigan Department of Transportation operations engineer Alissa Hubbell during Monday’s Centreville Downtown Development Authority meeting.
Hubbell further announced that a similar designation upgrade was made for South Main Street in Three Rivers between East Michigan Avenue and Lutz Road.
She explained that the all-season declaration means commercial truck traffic is exempt from so-called frost laws, which are seasonal weight limits enforced on certain roadways during the freeze-thaw season. During the period of seasonal weight limits, vehicles are allowed on all roadways but must comply with a weight restriction, typically 30 percent less than when the restrictions are not in place.
The all-season designations are in effect immediately, Hubbell said.
