The debate over the start time for St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners meetings will be settled later this year.
At the request of Commissioner John Dobberteen, the issue of a 5 p.m. start versus a 6 p.m. call to order will be revisited in June.
The new-look county commission – a five-member board that starting Jan. 1 featured three new commissioners – agreed during their inaugural meeting in January to revise the start time from 5 o’clock to 6.
The explanation at the time given by Commissioner Kathy Pangle was that 6 p.m. is a friendlier start time for people who work first shift.
Meetings will continue to start at 6 p.m. until the matter is discussed June 6.
