Speed and alcohol were likely factors in a single-vehicle accident last weekend in Branch County’s Batavia Township.
State police were called around midnight Saturday to Ember Road, near Wheeler Road, in response to a car that had crashed into a tree. The car was being driven east on Ember Road by a 23-year-old Bronson man.
Investigators said he lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the collision. He had to be extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to Bronson Hospital. He was listed in critical condition.
