A St. Joseph County community was one of 15 entities across the state to be awarded a grant from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority through its HOME Investment Partnerships Program.
Sturgis Neighborhood Program received $150,000 for its plan to complete two projects within the city, according to the Lansing-based agency.
The grants are provided as a means of allowing home rehabilitation and repair projects to move forward.
HOME is a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development program that helps build, buy or rehabilitate affordable housing for rent or ownership, often in partnership with local nonprofit groups.
In all, 12 cities and three townships across the state will benefit from the latest round of grant dollars, which ranged in amounts from $60,000 to $176,000.
