A presentation about Michigan’s Main Street Program and an overview of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Redevelopment Ready Communities program took place last month before a collection of Sturgis city officials.
Leigh Young, Main Street specialist, gave a presentation regarding the Michigan Main Street Program and specialist Emily Petz discussed Redevelopment Ready Communities.
Their appearances were arranged by city manager Mike Hughes.
Young said the program exists to help communities develop main street districts that attract both residents and businesses, promote private commercial investment and spur economic growth.
She said 38 Michigan communities, including Three Rivers, are participants. Three more communities are to be added in the next few months.
Petz, meanwhile, outlined the Redevelopment Ready Communities program.
She said the program is designed to shape the future of communities by establishing a solid foundation to retain and attract business investment and talent.
