Cass County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident last week in Howard Township.
According to Sheriff Richard Behnke, deputies were called at 1:30 a.m. Thursday to a location on Anderson Road, just south of Allen Road.
Deputies found the driver unconscious but still breathing. Investigators said it appears the driver was traveling north on Anderson Road and lost control of his vehicle, which struck a tree.
Howard Township Fire Department assisted deputies in removing the driver by cutting the driver’s door off of the vehicle. The driver, whose name and age were not included in a department media release, was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital.
Investigators said alcohol may have been a factor contributing to the crash.
