Teresa Belote signed a contract with the St. Joseph County Intermediate School District for a total salary package of $146,000 at a special board meeting Monday in Centreville.
In a separate special meeting later in the day, Bronson Community Schools Board of Education accepted Belote’s resignation as superintendent.
The Bronson board voted to use the Michigan Association of School Board executive search services used three years ago, leading to the hiring of Belote.
Barbara Marshall, outgoing St. Joseph County ISD superintendent, retires May 31. Both districts’ fiscal year begins July 1.
At both meetings, Belote told the boards she will work to make the transition as seamless as possible, planning now on 12 hour days — eight in one district and four in the other, throughout June. She then plans to use vacation time from ISD to work with the new Bronson superintendent.
