Therman L. “Stub” Cossairt, age 85, of Colon, passed away, Friday, April 28, 2017, at his home.
Stub was born Feb. 1, 1932, in Colon, a son of the late Therman L. and Pauline (Bargo) Cossairt Sr.
Stub had served in the U.S. Army with the 24th Infantry during the Korean War.
On Nov. 22, 1952, he married Dorothy A. Link in Burr Oak. She preceded him in death July 30, 2014.
Stub had worked as a buffer and polisher for Bronson Plating for more than 33 years.
He had lived most of his life in Colon and was an active member of Colon American Legion Post #454. He also was a member of 40 and 8 of St. Joseph County.
He is survived by three sons, Donald (Lynn) Cossairt, Tom Cossairt and Mathew (Jessica) Cossairt, all of Colon; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, John Cossairt of Sturgis; a sister, Janet Wolful of Florida; a half-brother, Joe Cossairt of Salisbury, Md.; three half-sisters, Linda Andrews, Shirley Overholt and Cindy Patterson, all of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; and a son, Harold Cossairt.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. Funeral services celebrating the life of Therman “Stub” Cossairt will take place 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at the funeral home, with the Rev. David J. Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at South Colon Cemetery, with military honors conferred by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and Colon American Legion Post #454.
If desired, the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Stub to either Colon American Legion or Great Lakes Caring Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
