Four people were arrested by Three Rivers Police last week in an operation that involved the Michigan Department of Corrections’ Absconding Recovery Unit.
Three Rivers Chief Tom Bringman said a fugitive under surveillance was seen leaving a residence shortly before 6:30 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of 9th Avenue. The vehicle in which he was a passenger was stopped and K9 Jake was brought to the scene.
Due to Jake’s demeanor as he stood near the vehicle, officers conducted a search of its interior. Officers discovered backpacks containing heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine and prescription drugs. In addition, officers recovered electronic devices, burglary tools, and stolen state and military identifications, police said.
A 30-year-old woman from Battle Creek, a 44-year-old Three Rivers man and two Sturgis men, ages 23 and 21, were arrested. They were charged with possession with intent to deliver meth; possession of meth, heroin, cocaine and prescription medication; possession of burglary tools; parole violation; harboring a fugitive; and absconding parole.
