Murder trial continues

The legal process of a Three Rivers man charged with open murder continued this week.
The case against 35-year-old Paul Midling was bound to Circuit Court, where he is slated for arraignment.
Midling’s court proceeding stems from a May 4 incident in Sturgis, whre he was found at-fault for causing a three-vehicle accident on South Centerville Road. He was charged with open murder, driving under the influence of a controlled substance and absconding from parole.
The accident occurred after the vehicle Midling was driving crossed the centerline and struck head-on a van driven by a 46-year-old Sturgis man. The van was struck by a third vehicle, whose driver was unable to avoid the accident scene.
