Investigators from Michigan State Police and local fire agencies remain at the scene of a Mottville Township business to determine what caused a devastating blaze Monday.
Crews were summoned around 4 p.m. to Green Stream recycling, in the 69000 block of M-103. In all, more than a dozen different departments responded and attempted to put out the blaze that burned through the night. High winds caused small grass fires across the road from Green Stream.
Smoke from the structure fire could be seen as far away as Schoolcraft to the north, Shipshewana to the south and Elkhart to the west.
Officials said the blaze was finally contained by mid-morning Tuesday. Fire crews remained on the scene throughout the day as a precaution due to the large volume of flammable product on the premises, according to authorities.
One firefighter was treated on the scene minor injuries. Details related to his department and nature of injuries were not made available as of Tuesday evening.
Investigators said the business is a total loss.
