State Rep. Aaron Miller is hosting three community forums related to a bill that would close the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System to new school employees.
Miller said House Bill 4647 would institute a defined contribution retirement plan that is identical to that of state employees and legislators. He said the meetings were called in light of numerous emails he has received from educators regarding the bill and its actions.
The meetings start at 8 p.m. and will take place Wednesday at Three Rivers High School, Thursday at Ross Beatty High School in Cassopolis and June 15 at Sturgis High School.
Miller said questions or concerns can be sent in advance to his office by phone, at 517-373-0832, or by email to Marla Braun at: mbraun@house.mi.gov.
