Molly Catherine Higgins, age 70, of Three Rivers, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at her home following a long illness. She was born in Sturgis, on Aug. 6, 1946 the daughter of William Claude and Gertrude O. (Moll) Hoffman and was a lifetime resident of St. Joseph County. Molly graduated from Mendon High School with the class of 1964. She worked briefly at the Haas Corporation in Mendon and at Shakespear in Kalamazoo. She was the payroll clerk at Weyerhauser Corporation in Three Rivers for over 20 years. Molly attended Trinity Episcopal Church in Three Rivers. She was a avid reader, enjoyed shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Molly is survived by her husband of 30 years, Rodney Easterday of Three Rivers; daughter, Heather (John) Kelly of New Market, AL; 5 grandsons, Ian (Sara) Kelly of San Antonio, TX, Sheamus, Kieran, Declan, and Aidan Kelly all of New Market, AL; great-grandson Walter Kelly; step-daughter, Erika Easterday of White Pigeon; mother in law, Verglea Gotfryd of Three Rivers; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Claude Hoffman; her mother, Gertrude Van Aken; and 2 sisters, Phyllis Ward and Beverly Van Aken.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday June 26, 2017 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will begin at 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. David Lillvis officiating. Cremation will follow services. It is suggested that memorials be directed to either the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the American Cancer Society, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
