One injured in watercraft collision

Two Illinois men were involved in a collision on a Cass County lake over the weekend.
Authorities said the Cass County Sheriff’s Department marine division was called at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in response to a personal watercraft striking another personal watercraft on Shavehead Lake in Porter Township.
A personal watercraft driven by 25-year-old Kyle Hughes of Mokena went out of control and struck a water vehicle operated by Ryan Zawadzki, 24, of Frankfort, authorities said.
Hughes suffered injuries from the accident and was transported to Eklhart General Hospital by personal vehicle, according to authorities. Meanwhile, Zawadzki was not injured.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident, investigators said.
The department wishes to remind the public that anyone born after 1978 must possess a Boater Safety Certificate in order to operate a personal watercraft in the State of Michigan.
