A Washtenaw County woman died over the weekend after drowning in Fabius Township’s Clear Lake.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department said the body of 24-year-old Alison Kunz was found in about 15 feet of water Sunday afternoon by a member of the department’s dive-rescue team.
Kunz, a Saline native and recent graduate of Western Michigan University, and a group of friends was swimming on the east side of the lake when she was reported missing around 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Rescue personnel searched until it was too dark to continue.
The effort resumed at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Her body was taken to the Kalamazoo County Medical Examiner’s Office.
