Boy injured in tubing accident

A 10-year-old Indiana boy was injured following a tubing accident over the holiday weekend on a lake in Cass County’s Marcellus Township.
Deputies were called to Red Run Street at Fish Lake regarding the welfare of a boy from Granger, Ind. The boy was riding on a tube when he fell off after it struck a wave. The victim fell into the water in a manner that caused him back pain.
The boat’s driver and spotter, 38- and 35-year-old men from Granger, as well as friends on the boat, took appropriate precautions until emergency personnel arrived on the scene.
The victim, Owen Juaquess, was transported to Bronson Lakeview Hospital for non-life-threating injuries. Alcohol was not a factor and personal flotation devices were used.
