LaDoris Monica Hunt, age 83, of Three Rivers, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 25, 2017. She was born the third child of Vincent Warren Gilmore and Gertie (Pinkston) Gilmore in Chicago, where she attended elementary school. She later she moved to Mendon, with her grandmother and graduated from Mendon High School, where she was the only black student at that the time and was also a member of the National Honor Society. She received a plaque in her honor for their 50th anniversary ceremony and was also presented a plaque from our then State Representative Rick Shaffer, whom declared that she had made history. He also presented her a certificate of declaration along with previous honorees.
LaDoris helped serve on the Human Rights Commission and also was a teacher’s aide in Three Rivers. She was currently working as a foster grandparent for the Domestic Abuse Shelter. LaDoris loved people and would give them all the love she had, especially to children.
After graduation she married Cornelius Hunt whom was enlisted with the United States Air Force. They became new parents and throughout the years the family moved to many different military bases. In this union of marriage six children were born: Vida Hunt, Edward Hunt, Annette Hunt, Jeffrey Hunt, Michael Hunt, and Marco Hunt; Special Daughters, Linda and Clara Robinson, Sister-In-Law Sandra Gilmore. Grandchildren, Henry (Dena) Wayne Harris Jr., Erin Anderson, Aaron Mcintee, Caprice Hunt, Evan Dercarmine, Geoffrey, Jessica Cain, Civelle, Ezekeil Jade Beranett, Ana Robinson, Kevin Carl Ownes, Kyla Ownes, Kareem, Chlore, Cindell, Grace; several great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29th 2017 at the Hohner Funeral Home.
Interment will take place at the Parkville Cemetery, in Park Township.
