Constantine declares property a public nuisance

Constantine village officials are investigating a residence found to be grossly out of compliance with the International Property Management Code.
Code enforcement Officer Mike Haydon during last month’s village council meeting said the residence in question is at 680 White Pigeon Road. Haydon said he has attempted to contact owners but without success.
After securing an administrative search warrant, Haydon and a village employee entered the home to assess its condition. After viewing photos Haydon took, board members agreed to declare the property a public nuisance and will conduct an unsafe-building hearing.
The process will allow property owners to prepare a plan to make necessary repairs. If the owners cannot be located or they fail to submit a plan, the structure can be declared unsafe and the building razed.
