Constantine delayed golf cart registration

Registration for the use of golf carts in Constantine was delayed because stickers to validate registration were not received by July 6, the date the ordinance was to take effect.
During last month’s village council meeting, village manager Mark Honeysett said the stickers were received July 10 and he has since issued four permits.
The ordinance, which requires a $ 15 registration fee, allows use of golf carts on village streets.
The recently adopted ordinance states an operator must be at least age 16 and licensed to drive a motor vehicle, must comply with signal requirements and may not drive on sidewalks. Speed limit for carts is 15 miles per hour.
