The St. Joseph County Conservation District is confirming its fifth annual “Local Food Dinner” will take place Aug. 25 at the county fairgrounds.
The four-course meal will feature meat, fruits and vegetables from 18 different local farms. Food will be prepared by local chefs Diana Miller, Brenda McWatters and Amigo Center staff.
The Conservation District has available tax-deductible table sponsors for $200 a table. Meanwhile, tickets to the meal are $20 each and available in advance from the Conservation District or at the door.
Event organizers said there will be music and a silent auction. The meal starts at 6 p.m. and takes place in Building 49.
Proceeds will benefit the Centreville-based agency, which uses funds to offer programs such as Salmon in the Classroom, water monitoring, fifth-grade Conservation Days, irrigation scheduling and systems evaluation, pollinator gardens and river cleanup.
