The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single-vehicle accident Thursday morning in Mendon Township.
Deputies were called shortly after 3:30 a.m. to Silver Street, just south of Michigan Avenue, where a vehicle went off the road and struck a tree.
The driver, Roy Spencer Jr., whose age and community of residence were not listed in a department media release, told authorities he was driving to work and fell asleep. Spencer was taken to Three Rivers Health and transferred to Bronson Methodist Hospital.
