The fifth of seven river-cleanup events of 2017 takes place Saturday in Sherman and Nottawa townships.
The St. Joseph County Conservation District is seeking volunteers to assist with the task. It is asking prospective volunteers to register in advance so an accurate number of kayaks, canoes and lunches can be reserved.
Saturday’s cleanup will focus on a stretch of the Prairie River from M-66 to Nottawa Road.
Start time is 9:30 a.m. and prospective participants may bring their own kayak or canoe if they prefer.
For more information or to make a reservation, the conservation district can be reached at 467-6336, ext. 5. Prospective participants in need of a watercraft must register by noon Friday.
